SEPTA Vandalizes Route 23 Trolley

SEPTA Vandalism at 12th & Bainbridge, Dec. 2006

Any possibility of SEPTA running its annual "Holiday Trolley" service in Center City ended when SEPTA management deliberately cut this section of rail out of the street at 12th & Bainbridge, in late 2006. This was vandalism, pure and simple.

Route 23 has been served by diesel and diesel hybrid buses since the route was made "temporary bus" in 1992. Those buses burn diesel fuel, thus pumping heat, noise and airborne diesel particulates into Philadelphia's neighborhoods. Meanwhile SEPTA's public relations department congratulates itself on how "green" SEPTA is.
