wrecked PCC 2625

On January 7, 1977, 1942 PCC 2625 became disabled on Germantown Avenue's Route 23. As it was being pushed back to the depot by another trolley, the drawbar connecting the cars came loose. This allowed 1942 PCC 2625 to roll out of control down hill, eight blocks before crashing into the rear of 1947 PCC 2736. Both cars were then stored in the yard at Luzerne Depot, where this photograph was made the following summer. The total destruction of the front platform of the 2625 contrasts sharply with the freshly painted ex-Kansas City Public Service 2266, parked next to it. Thanks to Ed Casey for information about the collision.
